About Harm Reduction Outreach Program

Our outreach team is guided by the principals of harm reduction, which is to reduce any potential challenges or barriers that may arise for individuals who are using substances. We also have a commitment to ensuring that all individuals accessing our services have access to social justice support, meaning we advocate for the respect and dignity of those who use substances.

Our team is able to offer services to individuals within the Toronto area. We can meet you in a place where you feel most comfortable, whether that be in a local coffee shop, community space, in a park or at our office.  We provide free access to safer-sex and safer use kits, offer case management services, crisis intervention, one-to-one counselling, advocacy and support services.

In addition to our core program we can also offer the following upon request:

Energy and Body Work
We recognize that part of one’s healing journey can involve a variety of different practices.  Recognizing that the body can hold pain and wisdom, we work to bring understanding and balance physically, mentally and emotionally.  Through gentle touch, soft movements and breath we offer a safe space to allow you to slowly and compassionately spend time in your body and with any thoughts and feelings that may arise.

Pet Therapy
We have collaborated with Therapeutic Paws of Canada to offer pet therapy services to folks interested in giving and getting love from dogs. This is a drop in service open to all Breakaway clients and runs once a month.
