Breakaway’s SUAP funded project will provide direct service and capacity building to communities in Toronto impacted by the grief and loss of the overdose crisis. In year one of the project (April 2021 – March 2022), Breakaway has developed group and individual support services for community members and workers, in collaboration with Good Grief Care, Harm Reduction Healing, and additional consultants from the harm reduction sector. Year two of the project (April 2022 – March 2023) will additionally include the development of skill- and capacity-building resources to provide harm reduction agencies with best practice guidelines around grief, loss and wellness supports for workers. The project will culminate in a written resource to be disseminated internationally.
